This petition was created to show Birdseye Foods/Conagra Brands that the people of Waseca are not okay with the horrible odor coming from their wastewater treatment facility located just south of the city. 

I own a home and work in Waseca. The smell forces me and my family to keep our windows shut and stay inside. It is strong enough to wake me from a deep sleep and keeps my family from enjoying what our community has to offer.

Both Birdseye Foods and the city council continue to tell the people to “be patient” or “it’s being fixed” while we suffer. We the people of this city want RESULTS. We’ve waited and dealt with this odor for long enough. It cannot be dismissed as a “bad year” or “we got a lot of rain this year”. The smell MUST BE STOPPED. 

Birdeye Foods is owned by Conagra Brands, a corporation worth over $10 billion. They continue to get richer while the people of this small city pay for the consequences of their greed. They might bring some money into our community but that doesn’t mean they have the right to stink up our city.

We ask that the mayor Roy Srp and the city council of Waseca force Birdseye Foods to stop the odor from their treatment facility RIGHT NOW.

I may not be a resident of Waseca, but I drive past it on highway 14 a minimum of 10 times a week for my work commute, and gag and choke and try to hold my breath from one side to the other because of the stench, which straight up smells like an outhouse. The smell is horrid, i won’t move back to that town because of it. Everyone knows waseca for its stench, and its horrible. I don’t get how they could accept this as a norm.

Montgomery is the same way it’s the waste water from the plant from washing the corn and all. The corn silage will kill any sense of smell

Because it smells very bad and it honestly makes me sick every time I try to take my two dogs out. And when the smell is around on hot muggy days it’s just horrid

The foul smell from this plants ponds are inexcusable. I have lived in towns with pulp wood mills and hog farms that were less offensive. Y’all got to get a handle on this nonsense!

I live close to birds eye and the waste center. The smell is in fact horrible. Another thing is the film of sticky residue that is on my car. I have to get my vehicles washed on at least a weekly basis.

I feel like I live in on a pig farm. Makes my eyes water. People were covering their faces going into Walmart! It smelled inside Walmart!

I avoid Waseca at all costs because of the smell.. If I can get something in waseca a 10 mile jaunt from home, I will go to Mankato instead .. If we take Hwy 14 east the smell literally makes me gag every time.

I’m rural and refuse to do my shopping in Waseca unless I absolutely have to. I have been giving Owatonna my money! This smell has made me go elsewhere and thank God I dont have to deal with the smell at my home!
